Alzheimer’s & Dementia
Alzheimer’s disease is a neurological disorder that affects the brain cells in several ways. Neural plaques form, and a substance within these plaques attacks the weakened cells, causing them to die. “Dementia” is a broader term which is defined as the loss of intellectual functioning to the extent that it interferes with daily activities. Dementia itself is not a disease. Rather, it is a set of symptoms that accompany a disease or condition.
