Our Leadership Team alone has well over 100 years combined of experience working with people who have dementia which allows our staff to utilize this knowledge to be creative problems solvers.
In addition to this interdisciplinary care team with depth and breadth of knowledge, we partner with a geriatric care team that includes a physician and nurse practitioner affiliated with one of Boston’s leading hospitals, who provide in-house primary health care.
Our Care Partners provide a model of consistent care for our residents and their families. Each resident is paired with a Care Partner who will assist them depending upon their individual needs in everything from their personal care, to meal assistance, to encouraging participation in our daily programming. This relationship can be pivotal for many residents as the staff provide a sense of security and are therefore able to encourage participation that promotes a sense of accomplishment and independence, resulting in a sense of self- worth and success.
Rogerson House follows the Alzheimer’s Association’s philosophy of “habilitation.” Our staff helps residents achieve success by meeting them at their highest functional level. Social activities become therapeutic experiences that enhance the moment — the here and now.
Our unique two floor design allows residents to transition from one floor to the other as their care needs increase over time. This gives Rogerson House the opportunity to adjust programming, supervision, and care services based on the cognitive level of each individual. Most importantly, it allows residents to live amongst neighbors similar to themselves.
The Rogerson House layout maximizes the natural light in our community. Residents live in single or companion suites, each with its own full bath. Safe, secure and attractive walking areas, both inside and out, give residents the greatest amount of independence. Warm and welcoming kitchens, dining rooms and living rooms are the foundation of our home here at Rogerson House.
Rogerson House has an extensive therapeutic programming with over 43 hours of activities a day! That is almost 300 hours a week – 4.5 times more than most communities! Our parallel programming is facilitated by our trained team of professionals including dedicated Music and Art Therapists who focus solely on their craft, and have one-on-one sessions with our residents.
In addition to our therapeutic programs we offer a wide array of activities; poetry and songwriting, yoga and tai chi, individualized personal fitness training, discussion groups, intergenerational programs, pet therapy and gardening.
With our proximity to Boston, we offer our residents cultural excursions to the theater, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Boston Pops, fine restaurants, movies, and current events. Families are welcome to accompany residents on excursions and participate in family gatherings, including holiday celebrations, summer barbecues on our patio, and our Friday afternoon Social Hours.

Our Resident Services Director and Social Work Interns host two monthly support groups – one for spouses and the other for family members to help them through this life altering transition. Their support, and specifically these groups, helps foster a positive experience for both the residents and their families. Our team approach philosophy encourages continuous family involvement in working with the Rogerson House staff around their loved ones care as well as through additional support services, educational programs and family gatherings.
