The interdisciplinary care team has a depth and breadth of knowledge that sets Rogerson House apart. A geriatric care team, including a physician and nurse practitioner affiliated with one of Boston’s leading hospitals, provides in-house primary health care. Rogerson House has its own nursing team on duty 11 hours each day, as well as an Registered Nurse on-call 24/7. Nursing oversees medications management, nutrition, blood pressures, and provides diabetic supervision. Resident care assistants oversee daily care needs and provide services such as assistance with bathing, dressing, toileting and hygiene. The combination of higher nursing and direct care staffing ratios define our non-profit mission.
Staff members encourage residents and day program participants to become involved in daily programs that promote a sense of accomplishment and independence. Whether helping with grooming, leading a discussion group, or gardening on our spacious grounds, our staff members tailor activities to enable each person to participate successfully, resulting in a sense of self- worth and success.
Rogerson House follows the Alzheimer’s Association’s philosophy of “habilitation.” Our staff helps residents achieve success by meeting them at their highest functional level. Social activities become therapeutic experiences that enhance the moment — the here and now.
The Rogerson House layout maximizes the natural light in our community. Residents live in single or companion suites, each with its own full bath. Safe, secure and attractive walking areas, both inside and out, give residents the greatest amount of independence. Home-like kitchens and dining rooms offer familiar daily activities.
Our therapeutic programs include music and art therapy, poetry and songwriting, yoga and movement, individual fitness training, discussion groups, support groups, intergenerational programs, community programs, pet therapy, and gardening.
With our close proximity to Boston, we offer our residents cultural excursions to the theater, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Boston Pops, fine restaurants, movies, and current events. Families are welcome to accompany residents on excursions and participate in family gatherings, including holiday parties and summer barbecues.
