Our Care Team
Every staff member at Rogerson House is extensively trained and dedicated to improving the lives of people with memory loss.
Specialized Training
Every staff member at Rogerson House is extensively trained and dedicated to improving the lives of people with memory loss. Above and beyond the regulations set by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs (EOEA), all Rogerson House direct care staff complete a 16-hour dementia specialist training which emphasizes communication techniques, appropriate activity programming, and behavioral interventions. We follow the staffing ratios recommended by the Alzheimer’s Association which ensure individual attention and care.
An Interdisciplinary Care Team
The interdisciplinary care team at Rogerson House is headed by the Executive Director, Assisted Living Director, Wellness Director, (RN), Therapeutic Program Director, Admissions Director, Day Program Director and Social Worker. Operations are under the supervision of our Director of Plant Operations, Director of Dining Services and our Business Services Director. Staff members include master’s level expressive therapists, RN’s, LPN’s, recreation coordinators and certified nurses’ aides.
Consulting Medical Professionals
Rogerson House holds a contract for medical care with Beth Israel Deaconess Health Care. Their professional team of a geriatric doctor and registered nurse practitioner supervises the medical care for the majority of our residents. Because of their close proximity to Rogerson House, their medical team is in-house several days per week for on-site visits. Rogerson House also has a visiting podiatrist, dentist, nutritionist, and psychiatric specialist.
Committed Care
Staff members encourage residents and day program participants to become involved in daily activities that promote a sense of accomplishment and independence. Whether helping with grooming, leading a discussion group, or gardening on our spacious grounds, our staff members tailor activities to enable each person to participate successfully and thus feel a sense of self worth. Staff oversees health care needs and provides such services as medication management, nutrition monitoring, and assistance with bathing, dressing and hygiene. A nurse is on duty 11 hours a day, and is on-call 24 hours a day. Physical, occupational and speech therapies can be arranged.
Educational Partnerships
Rogerson House has formed partnerships with Lesley University Graduate School, Simmons College of Social Work, and The American Red Cross. Each year Rogerson House offers internships to students studying expressive therapies and social work. Students develop relationships with residents and provide one-on-one interaction. We also invite graduates of the Red Cross certification program to apply for staff positions.
